Endlose Weiten auf Juist, der Insel der Immobilien-Millionäre.
Seminar in einer Bildungsstätte auf Juist, für Menschen mit wenig Geld. Es geht um Selbstermächtigung, Teilhabe, vor dem Hintergrund von konkreten Projekten, wie Formate für Bürgerfunk, Social Media und, in meinem Workshop, um öffentliche Aktionen, Interventionen. Mein Workshop entwickelte die Idee, auf der Insel eine Aktion zu Bürgergeld durchzuführen und die Presse dazu einzuladen, um auf die völlig unzureichende Ernährungssituation im Bürgergeld hinzuweisen: 6,50 Euro pro Tag. Auf Juist kostet ein Aperol schon 10 Euro. In der PM wurde auch die Frage nach der Situation der Saisonarbeitskräfte auf der Insel gestellt. Saisonarbeitskräfte werden oft ausgebeutet, was Lohn, Arbeitszeit, Unterbringung angeht. Auf den Nordseeinseln kommt dazu: Lebensmittel sind wegen der Transportkosten mit Fähren zwischen 30 bis 50 Prozent teurer.
Auf den deutschen Nordseeinseln dürfte das tausende von Saisonarbeitskräfte betreffen, oft aus Osteuropa. Im Internet fanden wir darüber: Nichts. Außer dass die Inseln solche Kräfte suchen. (Hinweis an die Insulaner: Im Kapitalismus wird der Markt über Angebot und Nachfrage geregelt. Wenn Saisonarbeitskräfte gut bezahlt werden, sagen wir mal, auf Niveau Studienrat, hat sich das Problem innerhalb einer Saison erledigt. Dann überleg ich mir sogar, ob ich da arbeite. Vielleicht als Eintänzer im Grandhotel ….)
Bei der Aktion sollten Beutel mit Nahrungsmitteln, die den erbärmlichen Bürgergeld-Tagessatz abbilden, verteilt und an einem zentralen Insel-Platz in der Nähe der Fähre ausgelegt werden. Ob das die erste Aktion dieser Art dort war, entzog sich unserer Kenntnis. Sie hatte aber „zündende“ Wirkung vorab. Am nächsten Tag, kurz vor Versand der PM, fand ein Krisengespräch zwischen den Seminar-Verantwortlichen auf unserer Seite statt und denen der dortigen Bildungsstätte. Fazit: Wenn die Aktion (mit Presse…?) stattfindet, gefährdet das Arbeitsplätze und Fördermittel der Bildungsstätte. Begründung, und da wurde es nebulös: Das Verhältnis zwischen Bildungsstätte und Gemeinde Juist sei angespannt und könnte die beschriebenen Konsequenzen nach sich ziehen. Da wir das in der Kürze der Zeit nicht hinterfragen konnten, haben wir natürlich die Aktion nicht durchgeführt. (Stattdessen wird eine ähnliche im Sommer vor dem Bundeskanzleramt stattfinden. Details demnächst.)
Es blieben Fragen … Wieviel Angst herrscht auf dieser Insel vor, was die „Störung“ des jahrelang ungestörten Ablaufs des Betriebes angeht? Was für ein Verständnis von Öffentlichkeit, Teilhabe und Demokratie herrscht dort vor? Was für Binnenverhältnisse herrschen auf dieser Insel, auf allen Nordseeinseln? Inseln sind relativ hermetische, abgeschottete Orte, wo man (Gewerkschaften, Medien, Kirchen) nicht mal eben recherchieren und intervenieren kann. Nur nach Sylt fährt die DB. Wo ab und zu Punker die Insel mal aufmischen und bei Einheimischen die Sehnsucht nach Adolf Hitler hervorrufen.

Dass da nicht mal einer auf die Idee kommt, in einer Nacht- und Nebelaktion Plakate zu kleben mit dem Hinweis: Hier werden Saisonarbeitskräfte ausgebeutet. Ud das dann den Medien steckt….
